Integrations for "Walking on sunshine"
These are some of the activities that will be undertaken throughout the Walking on Sunshine unit.
Space Action Song (sung to
The planets spin around the sun,
Around the sun, around the sun.
The planets spin around the sun,
We live on earth!
The sun is found in the middle,
In the middle, in the middle.
The sun is found in the middle,
It keeps us warm!
The stars are twinkling far away,
Far away, far away.
The stars are twinkling far away,
Now make a wish.

SOSE integrations for "walking on sunshine" unit:
PS1.1 Students match relationships between environmental conditions and people’s clothes, food, shelter, work and leisure.
SRP 1.1Students identify how elements in their environment meet their needs and wants.
Students draw appropriate clothes for people living in different proximity to the sun.
Students invent the recreational activity for people living on a planet with specific conditions.
Religious Ed integrations and Personal development integating activities:
RE – God is watching us from a distance (Bette Midler)… Discuss can you see more from a distance or close up. Explain that God watches us both from a distance and close up. Therefore he can see all that is happening around us and knows more than we do, but he is also close up and knows how we feel.
On the completion of this unit students will – understand that God is omni-present and can see us from a distance as well as interact closely.
PD - Students discuss feelings and how we all have feelings. Just as we all need oxygen to live, we all need to be loved and respected.
The students build a "life line".
The life line is a paper chain that begins in the far corner of the room with the intent of reaching the door and beyond... just like the oxygen tubes that we sometimes see connected to the astronauts when they step outside the space ship in outer-space.
Maths:
Students go on a directed space walk to collect specific samples. They measure in estimated “feet”.
English:
Students explore the steps involved in writing a letter and translate this to emails.
The students identify key words specific to the unit as well as frequently used words.

Maths and English:
